Troubled teen spoke of sexual assault on Cosby, friend testifies

Sixteen-year-old Judy Huth was in a daze minutes after Bill Cosby was accused of sexually assaulting her on a 1975 afternoon at the Playboy Mansion, and her then-best friend testified on Wednesday.

“She said, ‘I want to go, I want to leave,'” said Donna Samuelson, then 17 and now 64, the first witness in a Los Angeles County civil trial over Hoth’s lawsuit against the 85-year-old woman. Comedian and Actor.

Samuelson, who had been looking forward to spending the rest of the afternoon and evening in the palace, was furious with her friend, until Hoth made it clear to herself.

“She said Bill Cosby tried to have sex with her,” Samuelson said.

Huth told Samuelson that in a bedroom outside a palace courtyard games room where the three were lounging and playing pool and games, Cosby tried to get his hand on her tight pants, then exposed himself, forcing Huth to touch them. Sexually, Samuelson, who was distracted playing a game, witnessed and was oblivious to what had happened.

Samuelson took two photos of Cosby and Hoth together that day and they are staples of the trial, and they were shown consistently to the jury on the first day. The clearly recognizable Cosby has a beard and red hat.

Cosby’s lawyer called the sexual assault allegations a “complete and utter fabrication” and said the photos were the only reason the case existed.

“This relates to a plan devised by Jodi Huth and her estranged friend Donna Samuelson based on some photographs,” attorney Jennifer Bunjian said in her opening statement shortly before Samuelson took the stage. “You’ll learn that Judy Huth has been trying to make money from these photos for decades.”

The trial represents one of the last remaining legal cases against Cosby after an appeals court overturned his criminal conviction in Pennsylvania last year, and his insurance company settled several other lawsuits against his will. He will not attend the trial, nor will he testify, but parts of a video he made will be played shortly after the 2014 lawsuit was filed.

Samuelson testified that Cosby met the two girls at a movie set in a Los Angeles area park a few days earlier, invited them to come to a club where he plays tennis, and then surprised them by the palace, telling them if anyone of their age asked to say they were 18, but they didn’t Nobody does it.

By the time Huth told her story to Samuelson, Cosby had left for an event with plans to be back hours later, leaving the girls behind.

Samuelson said that she asked her stricken friend if she wanted to go to the police or tell anyone else, to which Huth answered emphatically in the negative. She persuades Hoth to stay at the mansion.

“I thought going for a swim and things would calm her down,” Samuelson testified. “I said, we’ll leave as soon as he gets back.”

She said that the butler of the palace brought the girls’ swimwear of any shape, size and color they requested, and they stopped at the palace’s famous cave pool and asked for a tequila sunrise. Then they dined in the palace, seated across from actor Peter Lawford.

They were dancing to a grand piano when Cosby came back and put his arm around the terrified Hoth. Samuelson said the girls got up right away to leave, but soon afterwards Playboy boss Hugh Hefner and his girlfriend, model Barbie Benton, came in, and Cosby introduced them before they left.

Bonjean acquired the girls in the mansion during its opening.

“Boy did Jodi and Donna enjoy themselves. They stayed for 12 hours,” Bunjian said. “No typical response to a traumatic event but the celebration at Playboy Mansion does not seem consistent.”

But Huth’s attorney Nathan Goldberg said in his opening statement that in the months that followed, I was deeply emotionally affected by the trauma, smoking heavy pot, entering into turbulent relationships and suffering from anxiety.

“She’s no longer the happy, lucky girl she was,” Goldberg said.

The Associated Press does not usually mention people who say they have been sexually assaulted, unless they come forward in public, as Huth did.
