That was the only major thing missing from Samsung’s awesome Wear OS smartwatch, which also happens to be the only Wear OS 3 watch on the market out of the box. If you haven’t yet installed Google Assistant on your Galaxy Watch 4 and bid farewell to Bixby, now is the time. In simple steps, we’ll show you how to set up and run the Google Assistant on your Galaxy Watch 4 or Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. Assistant support is only officially available in 10 markets, but this guide will also show you how to bypass this restriction and get the feature in any country.

Before proceeding, make sure that your smartphone is close to you and connected to your Galaxy Watch 4.

  • Swipe up on the Galaxy Watch 4 to open the app drawer.

  • Open the Google Play Store app and scroll down to My Apps. You should see a pending update for Assistant. If you don’t see an update there, use the Play Store search bar to search for Google Assistant.

  • Click “Update” or “Install” to download the application.

  • Once downloaded, click Open to get started. Alternatively, you can also find the Assistant app in the app drawer.
  • Click “Get started” and then “Open on phone to activate” to start setup on your phone.

However, it is possible to run the Assistant on the Galaxy Watch 4 even if it is not officially available in your market. Here’s how.



  • Pick up your watch and go to Settings>About the clock>Software>Software version.
  • Keep clicking “Software Version” until you see a toaster message “Developer mode is on”.
  • Now go back to the main Settings page, and you should see Developer Options right above Software Update.

  • Go to developer options and turn on “ADB debugging”.
  • Take note of the IP [192.168.XXX.XX] that appears under “Debug over Wi-Fi”. Ignore 5555 at the end.
  • Open Easy Fire Tools on your phone. Click on the hamburger menu and go to Settings > IP Address.
  • Remove the current address and enter the IP address you registered from your watch. Click OK to save and return to the main screen.
  • From there, tap on the connection icon in the upper right corner to create an ADB connection to the watch. Make sure the watch and phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

  • When prompted, give the correction request on your watch.
  • From the list of installed apps, select APK Assistant and click on “Yes” to sideload.
  • Wait for the transfer and installation to complete, which may take some time.
  • After successful installation, you should see the Assistant app in the app drawer.

How to reset the home button to launch the Google Assistant

The Galaxy Watch 4’s Home button is set to Bixby by default. Here’s how to reset it to Google Assistant:

  • Swipe up on the Galaxy Watch 4 to open the app drawer.
