Rebecca’s health took a turn for the worse. While she is lying in bed, she dreams that she is on a train. William appears to guide her through the train. Rebecca doesn’t want to leave yet. “I’m waiting for someone,” she says.
Philip arrives at Kevin’s house with Jack and Hailey. I’ve already spoken to Kate. She’s getting on a plane from London ASAP. Kate will arrive at Kevin’s house in the morning.
Deja reveals that she is pregnant with Randall. She hasn’t told her boyfriend yet. Only Randall knows, and he promises to keep it a secret. Randall can’t resist telling Beth, who already knows Deja is pregnant without even saying a word.
Rebecca’s nurse rushes out of Rebecca’s room and tells Kevin and Randall that it’s time to say goodbye. Rebecca probably won’t work through the night. Randall and Kevin give Philip a look. Kate’s still not here. Kevin and Randall FaceTime Kate while on the plane. Understandably, Kate is upset. “Tell her I’m on her way,” Kate assures her siblings.
Beth decides to say goodbye to Rebecca first. In Rebecca’s dream, she noticed Beth on the train. Beth told Rebecca that she was always trying to do her “best impression” of Rebecca as a mother. She thanks Rebecca for everything, especially for raising Randall. “I’ve got it now,” Beth says.
While making her way across the train, Rebecca runs into Dr. K, who works as a waiter. Rebecca mentions the fact that Kate is not here. He has more words of wisdom for Rebecca just like he did all those years ago. says Dr. K, before adding that she got some rest: “You are as tough as they come, Rebecca Pearson.”
More family members start saying goodbye, including Sophie, Toby, Annie, and more. Almost everyone goes to bed, except for Randall and Kevin. They make their way to their mother’s room, just the two of them.
Malik arrives at Kevin’s house while Deja is sleeping, assuring that these two are the end of the game. Malik is ready for parenthood with Deja. “I’ve loved you since I was 16. I want to marry you,” Malik says.
The episode actually starts with a family of 5 riding in the car. One of the kids in the car is Marcus, who is trying to find a cure for pancreatic cancer at present. The night of the car accident is the same night that Jack died. Jack, still in his ashes-covered robes, introduces himself to the Father, playing his part Hill Hill. Jack tries to have a short conversation over coffee. The father says that Jack “pretty much joins me on the worst night of my life.”
Nowadays, the children of the family in the car accident are raising their family motto. The family motto is the same thing Dr. K said to Jack all those years ago. It turns out that Jack’s doctor was saving Marcus while Jack was dying. While Jack is in cardiac arrest, Marcus has been coding. By the time the Doctor went back downstairs after saving Marcus, Jack was already dead. Marcus grew up to make a breakthrough in Alzheimer’s disease research.
In the train carriage, Rebecca is still not ready to go. Still waiting for someone. Rebecca makes it all night so Kate can stand by her side. The Big Three bid them farewell and tell their mom they love her.
William leaves Rebecca alone in the Caboz car. When she lies on the bed, Jack is waiting for her there. Rebecca is able to die in peace with everyone she loves around her.
