Stress causes and effects

Stress causes and effects

sA lock of hair is a lifelong disease. No living being can claim to be stress-free; Some may have a lot of it, while others manage to tame it at all times, and therefore have a lower degree of stress. “We poison our lives with fear of burglary and shipwreck, and we ask anyone, the house is never burgled, the ship never collapses.” (Jean Anouilh). A lot of stress is self-made and caused.

There is self-made stress and there is external stress. Both are equally deadly, but in my opinion, the stress caused by the “inner mental formation”, is even more deadly. If the prevailing external factors give one a more stressful life, the individual always has a chance to move away from those conditions. One cannot ignore the tension that is mounting as a result of his internal uprising.

Stress causes anxiety. Most of us get nervous about performance; To meet the expectations of others, both from co-workers and family members. We continue to judge if we can accept the challenge. We ask ourselves, do I have the skill, talent and tools to achieve the set goals. Through inner conversations with oneself, we reach a high level of stress that causes anxiety.

The dictionary says, stress is the body’s reaction to a threat, while anxiety is the body’s reaction to stress.

On the other hand, anxiety is defined by persistent and excessive anxiety that does not go away even in the absence of a stressor. The USA Psychological Association defines anxiety as “an emotion characterized by feelings of stress, worrying thoughts, and physical changes such as high blood pressure.” Anxiety is a disease of the soul.

The stress may come and go, and the anxiety is more urgent and persistent because by its nature anxiety is not necessarily a quick or specific trigger. Stress and anxiety cannot be cast away from anyone’s life – they acquire a problem condition or a medical condition, when emotion overwhelms them. Stress can be a lifelong illness, if left untreated.

Stress can be both positive and negative. The adrenaline rush leads to extraordinary performance. The pressure to exercise self-control to do well falls into the realm of positive pressure. Positive stress is not likely to cause ulcers. Instead it heralds a state of general happiness. On the contrary, negative stress raises blood pressure, enhances pulse rate and reduces an individual’s high level of anxiety that is always harmful to health. When I look back at my career, I find that some of my best performance moments were when I was in a state of silent tension. Anxiety (stress) can release positive energy that allows the desired results to be achieved.

Stress stimulates work. Gives effect to creativity. For those who only perform when faced with a stressful environment, it is an elixir; The fountain of life. But this position has its own limitations. In the short term, ie in the younger years of life, it can be a vitamin for joyful living but in middle age and beyond it can become a toxic start to a guaranteed future for heart problems.

Leaders/managers who become stressed and anxious ensure that they continue to pass on adequate doses each day to their colleagues, by means of strange behavioral responses. At the first sign of showing an opinion that either challenges or negates their point of view, they will lose their shirt in public and create an unhealthy spectacle, weakening and overpowering the judgment of their reporting, and thus moving towards making the entire environment toxic. Of course there are many in the corporate and business world, who have unabashedly subscribed to popular dialogue, from the Hindi film, “Tension Lin Ka Nahi, Ini Ka” (loosely translated, Don’t stress but give it to others). Those who practice this with the full knowledge of themselves that this despicable management position is essentially sadists, take pleasure in causing pain to others.

Supervisors who choose to keep deadlines too short for task completion, with total disregard for determining how much work input is required to achieve goals, are those who contribute to maintaining a high level of stress in the environment. These types are categorized, albeit erroneously, as masters of difficult tasks; Rather, they bully companies and lack the knowledge and competence to know how long it takes to produce good work. A true challenging task master is someone who assigns work/tasks, including stressful tasks, to his teammates, and follows them up regularly, with full assistance through direct involvement in completing the task and by making the environment, an enabling environment.

These are motivational impulses, not stress. Leaders and managers may be adherents of perfection but they should not be tyrants or villains, who through improper behavior, whether intentionally or unintentionally, help drug companies sell them for antidepressants or tranquilizers.

Those under stress find themselves nervous, irritated, tired, tired, muscle cramps, have trouble sleeping and, in more severe cases, have digestive issues.

It has only been associated with the financial industry, and within its folds there are many less stressful jobs, but there are others, such as treasury, that cause high levels of stress. At a very young age, I experienced having a very high level of acidity in a closet job. The pressure to maintain the liquidity position and the exchange position was enormous. Heartburn was a worrisome and troubling medical condition.

Stress causes and effects

Some managers experience anxiety not as a temporary condition, but as an adjective more. The condition can be subject to change with focus and training to avoid it; While the trait is part of the personality. There are some leaders and supervisors who enjoy creating panic conditions for the smallest of things; For team members, this is done by establishing payment schedules for task completion. Some do this by punishing schedules, and can go so far as to start working (for personal reasons of being affected by insomnia) at crack of dawn – they like to live the life of a rooster and keep working (pretending!) until the early hours of the morning after making sure the owls are retired to sleep. I have seen such managers.

In this legislation, productivity takes a closer look; Something is wrong with the person causing stress and anxiety in the workplace environment. Failure to perform creates fear, stress, and anxiety. Thomas Jefferson said, “So much pain has cost us evils that never happened.”

During stressful moments/times, it is best to leave the office and walk around the office. If one lives in a city, which has friendly climatic conditions, it is better to take a walk outside the office. Breathing exercises also help reduce stress: so does watching trees and plants. Looking at a fish tank is a soothing experience. If your supervisor is a source of stress, give him an aquarium for his cabin; Or put some pots of plants or fresh flowers. It will definitely have a magical effect on behavior. This is a personally tested and witnessed formula.
