Apple is now planning to release a new 27-inch monitor with small LED backlight in October due to the Shanghai shutdown, which has delayed screen production, according to Display industry consultant Ross Young.

In a tweet, Young said that Apple is in the process of moving production of the display from the Quanta Computer to a different supplier and/or location, which is causing a delay. Young said it now appears that the display will be released in October, while he previously claimed that the display was on its way to a June release, around the Apple WWDC Developer Conference.

Mini LED backlighting paves the way for the display to feature ProMotion with a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz. This could result in the display being “Studio Display Pro,” but it’s not clear if Apple will use this branding. Additional details that are still unknown, including pricing. The current studio offer starts at $1,599.

Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, has accurately revealed in the past that the sixth-generation iPad mini will feature an 8.3-inch screen and that 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will feature ProMotion.
