One of the most interesting games currently under the extended Xbox Game Studios umbrella is Grounded, a passionate survival project from a small team at Obsidian Entertainment. Grounded has already crossed many milestones in the Early Access era, and continues to add new content regularly over time to give players more reasons to fall in love. On Tuesday, Obsidian Entertainment began rolling out the Grounded 0.13.0 update, known as “The Bugs Strike Back,” to all Grounded players.

Basic mission players survive in a hostile and chaotic environment known as… your average suburban backyard. Players shrink to the size of bugs and must survive bug attacks, find shelter, food and water to survive, research, collect resources for crafting, build an epic base to defend themselves, and more. With the release of Grounded’s 0.13.0 “The Bugs Strike Back” update, this gameplay episode just got more interesting.

Some of the new content update features include:

  • New ways to interact with insects. The land is filled with a variety of creatures, each with their own unique behaviors and personalities. With “The Bugs Strike Back” players will have three new ways to interact with Grounded Bugs, including:
    • Base sieges, where hordes of certain insects can attack your base in an attempt to avenge their invasion, killing their own kind and much more
    • Waft Emitter, which allows you to encourage basic sieges to actually happen by spreading the scent of bug parts you’ve collected, all for the purpose of summoning more bugs to take away resources
    • MIX.Rs, which are scattered all over the yard and can give you loads of valuable raw science – if you’re willing to fend off an onslaught of angry bugs trying to destroy them
  • New ways to defend. Not only does it put the player at greater risk; It also adds new ways players can defend themselves, including:
    • Upgraded armor pieces, which can provide increased defense and even unique advantages
    • New towers for defense bases, including the pollen tower that causes slow down and the pebble tower that destroys
    • New traps, including an explosive trap, which players can strategically launch at their discretion
  • New features for quality of life. Grounded’s latest update includes many community-requested features and quality of life improvements, including:
    • New PEEP.R cards, which can be collected for each earthed creature and provide statistics on strengths, weaknesses, locations, lost resources, and death toll
    • The ability to rename and organize all your inventory and storage spaces
    • The ability to clean up your yard by removing any piles of discarded items
    • and many more

Content Update 0.13.0 is now available anywhere Grounded is located, including Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, and PC (through Microsoft Store and Steam). You can also play Grounded on PC and Xbox Game Pass. There’s plenty of content to explore in the latest version of Grounded, and Obsidian Entertainment isn’t out yet. The game will evolve further before its final release from Early Access to become one of the perfect Xbox games for you to play.

In case you missed it, Grounded officially crossed over 10 million players three months ago, and it can only continue to grow as developers add more content and features to their shrinking adventure of survival.
