What can I fix with the Apple Self-Service Program?
Currently, the Apple Self Service program is only available in the United States. But Apple has plans to expand it to other countries, including Europe, later in 2022.
For now, you can complete repairs on iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and iPhone SE 3rd generation. Some of the parts you can fix include the screen, battery, and phones camera.
Apple says that later in 2022, the program will expand to include manuals, parts, and tools for making repairs on Mac models using Apple’s silicon chips.

To get started, you’ll head over to the Apple website and review the repair guide for your device. Besides learning about the repair process, you can learn about the parts, tools, and materials required.
Once you’re familiar with the repair instructions for your device, it’s time to head to a self-service repair shop.
The online store is not operated by Apple but by an authorized third party provider. Apple permits the Provider to sell Genuine Apple parts and tools.
To purchase replacement parts, you will need either the IMEI or the product serial number of your device. To help, here’s our primer on how to find the serial number of any Apple device.
After creating an account, you will scroll down and select Start your order under Request parts and tools.
In the dialog box, you will need to select the product, model, and repair type.
Next, you will see the parts and tools that you will need to complete the repair. For some parts, you can return the replaced parts to Apple and get credit. Apple will recycle the part.
For tools to complete the repair, there are two options. You can purchase the tools separately or pay $49 to rent the Apple Toolkit for 7 days. Provides a custom toolkit for the model you need to repair. It contains a complete set of tools available from the store.
You will need to return the set after the rental period, or you will be charged for all content in the set. Shipping the tools is free to you and back to Apple.
Should I use the Apple Self-Service Program?
If you’re wondering if Apple’s self-service program is right for you, the answer is probably no.
Apple says the program is for “customers who have experience with the intricacies of electronic device repair.”
So if you are hesitant to repair your device, you better pay the extra money and leave it to professionals from Apple or iPhone repair shop.
But if you have the skills to do the repair yourself, this is a great way to save money and fix your iPhone at home at your own pace. Being able to use genuine Apple parts is also a big plus as non-genuine parts can be an issue in iPhone repair.
