Canadians angry with Ticketmaster over Harry Styles concert ticket prices | News

Fans were excited for a chance to get seats in Harry Styles’ “Love on Tour” during Wednesday’s Ticketmaster pre-show, only to be met with crazy prices.

The “As it Was” singer’s North American tour has been announced for the first week of May, with the only Canadian stop in Toronto.

Ticketmaster has directed people to sign up for its verified presale, which promises to get “more tickets in the hands of fans fairly, at set prices.” According to the company, while being part of this program doesn’t guarantee you a ticket, it’s meant to keep seats away from robots and vendors.

But what the majority of party-goers found on Wednesday was the opposite of what their verified fan account had promised.

β€œWhat is the point of being a verified fan and getting a pre-sale access code if we have to deal [with] All this nonsense. 1000+ dollars for a nosebleed? Twitter user @MitchellAllie25 said.

“[With] Everything we’ve been through collectively over the past two years, I’m shocked [Harry Styles] You’ll be playing at a place where #Ticketmaster is selling tickets by the thousands,” another fan tweeted. “That’s just wrong. I’m not bitter but frustrated because I’m sure many Canadians are.”

People have taken to social media to express their anger at the ticketing and distribution company, sharing snapshots of the exorbitant prices to watch the UK pop hype.

Many of the seats sold for over $1,000.

@haleyhozella tweeted, “How is this even allowed for lmao.”

You’d think, well, maybe those thousand dollar tickets will get you close enough to sweltering in the sweat of the British concert. no. Based on screenshots, these tickets are not front row seats for the show. Even nosebleeds seats cost up to $500.

“For anyone wondering how much pit tickets (which aren’t a stupid platinum ticket) in Toronto for two, with n tax on everything CAD$481, good luck getting everyone seats!” A Toronto fan tweeted.

Others claim that bots and speculators are still able to snatch fan presale codes from the hands of real people.

“honly f**k # Ticket Master And the entire Verified Fan Presale,” @lookupatbrashr tweeted. β€œA lot of hardcore fans didn’t get Harry’s code and instead became random bots and residents.”

There were a few fans who triumphed in getting tickets.

But most of them shared their anger toward Ticketmaster.

One Canadian fan summed up the ticket buying experience perfectly.

β€œI’m 100 percent sure I have a better chance of getting into Harvard than getting Harry [Styles] Toronto presale.
