Spoilers in front of episode 20 of New Amsterdam The fourth season, titled “Rise”.
New Amsterdam Open “Rise” with Max “How can I help?” Goodwin They were ever helpless in Season 4 after that Big swing to take it Veronica Fuentes down due to her criminal negligence failed to work. Not only that, but the non-competition agreement in his contract means he can’t get a job to practice medicine anywhere other than New Amsterdam. He’s run out of ideas and pretty much out of options…but it turns out he doesn’t have to be the one to take the steps to defeat Fuentes, and the medical drama has officially wrapped up a main storyline.
fact, New Amsterdam Wrapped such a main story that it is almost difficult to imagine what remains after “Rise”. Veronica Fuentes is officially out of the hospital. Having outgrown all of Max’s attempts to overthrow her, it was a strike by essential workers who were suffering because of her policies and cost-cutting that eventually led to her decline, Brantleydelight. As the crowd of attackers outside cheered for her departure, Fuentes took off her badge. Her time at the top of New Amsterdam is over, resolving the main conflict of the season… as there are still two episodes left.
So let’s take a look at all the stories that are still going on, and could shed more light now that Fuentes is gone.
Max has a choice to make
Max has been doing everything he can to help the hospital since returning for Vijay’s funeral and seeing for himself what it was like under Fuentes as sole medical director, but he has officially achieved his goal and is free to return to his life in London with Helen. However, it may not be that easy, as Brantley explained that the attackers were inspired by Max, and wouldn’t really go back to the hospital if he wasn’t there to manage it. He will have to choose between his life in London and staying in New York, which may not be an easy decision. Much likely depends on what Helen is willing – or willing – to do.
Reynolds has father problems
Reynolds To an important decision when I choose to allow Malvo And Baptiste He moves away from New York to raise his unborn child, although he intends to share some trait. He started telling people about his closeness to his mother, with his sister in the previous episode and Dr. Wilder In the “height”. He had not yet told his mother, but instead went to her to ask her about finding his father, contrary to his sister’s advice. He wants to find his father while waiting for the birth of his child who is following him What the show’s makers said about his ‘dad’s problems’ In the second half of the fourth season.
Bloom helps Layla
Thrives And Leila They may separate, but their lives are more intertwined than ever after the end of “The Rise,” in ways that seem guaranteed to cause complications. After Bloom agrees to pay Laila to pay a lawyer to fight deportation, Laila ran into another problem due to her lack of a permanent address, weakening her case so much that there was no hope of fighting it. Instead, Bloom announces that Lily must go back to live with her to obtain an official address again, which appears to be emotionally counterproductive to one or both of them. EP David Schulner previewed that “it’s getting more chaotic” and “more difficult” for them!
Iggy and Trevor’s heels
AG He made his bed when he was employed Trevor Just because he was flattered by the nurse’s attention, and now he has to lie about it. After Trevor was more or less put in a situation where quitting was one of his only options, Iggy used some questionable tactics with a patient on “Rise,” all while supposedly attending therapy himself to try to work out what made him keep secrets from Martin. I’m not entirely convinced that Iggy won’t face any professional backlash due to Trevor’s attitude, but it seems safe to say that Martin won’t easily leave his husband this time around.
Helen alone in London
Helen managed to recovering from a stroke Fast enough to get back to her job in London while Max stays in New York again to continue trying to fix New Amsterdam. This allowed her to spend some valuable time with her mother in the previous episode, but a medical condition related to the parents’ inability to abandon their child in a coma hit her hard now that she’s colormother. She doesn’t seem to have a lot of anecdotes going on now that she’s clearly recovered from a stroke, but promoting what’s to come next suggests that trouble is on the way:
Apparently, Helen and Max are moving forward with the marriage very quickly, as Helen is already trying to put on her veil, but they don’t seem to have a smooth path to get to the altar. In the last two seconds of the promo, Helen said to her fiancé “I don’t know how to tell you this” over the phone, then started crying. Did something happen to her mother? Still dealing with the lingering effects of a stroke that Max doesn’t know about? Is she upset that she received some bad news about the possibility of having children or not?
Normally, I think it’s pretty easy to wonder if Helen’s crying moment on Max had something to do with wanting children based on a few moments in the promo, but it was a major plot point not so long ago when she refused a hysterectomy even when she had the best chance. To save her life, motherhood is mentioned again in “Rise” in reference to Luna. For her sake, I just hope whatever makes her cry is something that can be resolved without pain. I’ve already had a tough enough season!
