Season 4 of Call of Duty Mobile: Wild Dogs launched on April 27, and Activision has detailed a new tournament mode feature coming into Season 4 on May 6.
The new Tournament Mode for Season 4 is separate from ranked play in Call of Duty Mobile. While Ranked Play is for larger teams and determines World Championship qualification in Call of Duty Mobile, Activision says Tournament Mode is for duos or solo competitors who want to prove their individual skills. It also gives players another outlet to practice in a competitive environment before climbing the Ranked Play ladder.
Players will be able to access Tournament Mode from the main Multiplayer Lobby. It will have its own position, which features mode selection, leaderboard, and will show player wins and losses during the tournament round.
Each round consists of four matches. These matches can be played on the following modes:
- Gunfight Team Deathmatch
- 2v2 Team Deathmatch
- 2v2 kill confirmed
- free for all
Winning matches will earn Players Crowns, an exclusive currency for tournament rewards. Those who win three matches will have a chance to earn double crowns, a dynamic calling card and a special tournament chest to win the fourth match. Players can play as many rounds of tournaments as they want to win prizes this week. In addition, players will be able to choose to spend CoD Points for additional matches during the round.
However, Activision says that additional match purchases will not affect the leaderboards. The publisher says that a player’s leaderboard is based solely on the number of wins, rewarding those who win rounds consistently regardless of additional match purchases.
The tournament mode in Call of Duty Mobile will run in a weekly bounty cycle, and winning crowns is how players will earn Milestone rewards, a combination of weapons, skins, and other cosmetic rewards.
Each week, player crowns will count toward the base and premium reward paths, similar to how the battle pass system works. All players will get the rewards in the basic event progression path, and they can purchase the Premium Milestone reward path with COD points.
Rewards continue to accrue in Tournament Mode using Leaderboard Rewards. While Milestone rewards are earned by accumulating crowns, Tournament Leaderboard rewards are solely based on player rank and number of wins compared to anyone else playing tournaments.
- Top 20% of all Tournament Mode players will get a Dynamic Profile Frame
- The top 15% will earn that plus animations with special characters
- Top 10% to win all the above rewards plus a special title
The top 10% title has been promoted for being among the top 5%, top 1%, and top 1000 in the leaderboard. Players who reach this coveted Top 100 position will also be able to earn CoD Points. Activision does not reveal how much players will win, but says that the CoD Point reward has been greatly enhanced for players who have reached the top 3 rankings in the World Tournament mode.
In addition to the upcoming Tournament Mode, Season 4: Wild Dogs has also added a new Battle Pass, more maps, a new weapon, and more. Call of Duty Season 3: Classified Arms recently launched in Warzone and Vanguard, and there’s an upcoming event centered around a battle between Godzilla and King Kong.
